If you are a returning visitor, you may have noticed some changes to my site lately. I spent a few hours making over my logo and button.

I choose A Prudent Mom as my slogan because “A Prudent wife is of the Lord” and I’d like to strive to be that way, although I’m not there yet you have to dream it to accomplish it, right? So I bought the domain APrudentMom.com so that I can use that name and have it re-direct here (the re-direct isn’t working yet; it will be happening shortly).   I think it is easier to remember and spell then CuckooForCouponDeals!  But you don’t have to change a thing as far as bookmarking goes; I will still be owning/operating under the Cuckoo For Coupon Deals name too.  They’re one site combined.

But most importantly, I’d like to thank my husband for spending several hours working behind the scenes to make my site load faster. My site loads at least 2x faster now!

What do you gals think? I’d love any feedback as always!

Who would look at my daughter (above) and know how dramatic she can be?

It all started yesterday at 9:00 I realized I had left my girl’s diaper bag at church.  It is a separate bag from my purse, so luckily nothing was in it too valuable.

Then today I went to get my driver’s license; it is my Birthday so I had to re-new.  Anyways, I was not expecting a 2 1/2 hour wait.  And I had only my purse – no diaper bag, AKA no toys for my 2 little girls to keep them occupied.  Things started off bad and got worse rapidly, and 1/2 hour in to the waiting time both my daughters were on the floor, literally worse than the movies, kicking the ground and screaming.

I had no toys and was trying to sing to them or do anything to get them to stop.  Everyone in the room was trying to help, but there was no end in sight.  I was so mortified and felt like such a bad mother. I should have brought toys! I had one daughter (2 1/2 years old, the one in the picture above) on the ground RolLinG around and the other (1 years old) I was bouncing on my hip as she kicked me.

I recently read “Love Your Heart” by Tim McGraw (yes, the country singer!), writer Tom Douglas, and illustrated by Abigail Marble.   I would recommend this book is a must-read for father’s to read to their 3-7 year old daughters.  Katie’s charming personality resonated with me; she’s a girl everyone could learn a lesson about positivity from, and the father is quite an example of what a father should be too.

This book explores Katie’s journey for the perfect talent for her upcoming talent show.  Now I won’t spoil the surprise, but Katie will win your heart with her actions.

My favorite part? When the father (who looks and acts a lot like Tim McGraw…) tells Katie to ask God what she should do.  I am so excited to have God back in children’s books!

The illustrations alone kept my nearly-3-year-old daughter captivated.  I would recommend this as a special gift for any rambunctious little girl.  Love Your Heart hardcover book is on Amazon.com for $11.99 + free shipping (Reg. $16.99) PLUS you can add the first book Tim wrote about Katie, called “My Little Girl” for only $6.80, just marked down from $16.99. That’s $18.35 for both, plus free shipping.

I love this! Deciding what’s for dinner is my least favorite part of the day…

I keep getting rings on my very-light almost-white microfiber couch wherever the kids slober on it or spill on it.  I can’t seem to keep it clean and it doesn’t unzip so I can’t throw it in the wash. Does anyone know if a sham wow would work???

Lately I can’t even watch PG-13 movies without cringing.  There is always one bad scene that ruins the whole movie for my family. Now that I have a daughter with big eyes and ears, I’ve started to be more careful about what I let get into them. There was a service called Clean Flicks that I used but it went under. I am excited that there is a new DVD player that edits the sex, violence and profanity out of shows and converts standard DVDs to High Definition called ClearPlay. It seems easy enough:

1. Pick your movie.

The ClearPlay DVD player works with any regular DVD you rent or already own.

2. Download your filters and insert the USB into the Clearplay DVD player.

I saw that Who Said Nothing In Life Is Free???? just got this Wii Step Platform. I want this… but I need a Wii balance board first and I need to know if any of you have tried the Step Platform yet.

Well my point is I own  “Your Shape” featuring Jenny McCarthy, the game with the camera that shows you on screen so you can workout without holding a remote.  I really don’t like it since it is hard-core working out.  So I listed it for trade on Craigslist and I am trying to trade it for a Wii balance board.  So if I get any takers THEN I am might get this Wii Step. I already love the Wii balance board games, they are more fun and less worky-outy then the Your Shape games.  What do you gals think? Should I get this Step Platform or do you not think it is worth $20? And is anyone local up for a trade :)   Its now $19.99 with free shipping here: wii balance board on Amazon.com

For those of you who don’t know me, I try not to shop on Sunday because if nobody shopped on Sunday then all the stores could close. All the employees could go to church and spend the day with their families and worship our Savior.

So if you have gone to Church, had your Sunday lunch and read your scriptures, you may be tempted to turn on the T.V. and bore yourself to take a nap or go shopping.  I would instead consider spending some quality time with your kids and family, even grandparents can enjoy this. My husband grew up in a family that was not allowed to play outside on Sunday.  My family, of the same religion, thought it was good quality time to play outside as long as it was with family (we couldn’t have our friends over to play on Sundays). What are your thoughts on this?

My thoughts: this Sunday is the most perfect snowman day of this season thus far. The snow is very easy to pack and the weather is fantastic.  My husband is on crutches, so yes, I lifted that big huge stomach on that snowman!  My daughter Lacey had so much fun making her first snowman.  Our front yard slopes pretty good so tomorrow we are making a sled hill.  Enjoy your Sunday!

Disney is BACK!

We have this awesome theater in Spanish Fork where you can see new releases for $4, and kids under 3 are free! So I took my daughter to see the Princess and the Frog tonight.

Finally, Disney has gone back to their roots.  This movie had music with lyrics and the main characters dancing about.  That is something that has been missing from several of the latest Disney projects. This movie is going to be infamous like The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.  And the hand-drawn animation is stellar; the computer generation stuff was cool at first, but now it is too lifelike. My 2-year-old daughter doesn’t pay attention to computer-generated movies with all talk and no dancing and singing.  She was on the edge of her seat during this whole show, captivated by its magic.  Thank you Disney!

P.S. the New Orleans street-style voodoo magician was a truly unique villain!
