I feel like after reading dozens of threads, and talking to the Catalina headquarters directly, I have a very clear view of how double coupon events at Kmart work and how their catalina program works! I personally tested and yep, you need a filler item if you are buying one item, using one coupon, and paying with a a catalina! You’d need to have two items, one to attach the catalina to and the other for the item with the coupon. Who knew Kmart was so similar to Wags?

You all all know from my “Double Coupons” post that stores get fully reimbursed for coupons.  If a $1 off coupon is doubled to $2, the store gets $1 back from the manufacturer, and pays for the $1 doubled out of their own pocket.

I often post deals with double coupons, and how when you double it you get a great deal.  But someone notices sometimes coupons saying “do not double” or DND on the coupon.  Coupons often say this or “Do Not Triple” on them.

What is the reason a coupon says “Do Not Double”?

Sometimes a coupon says “5” as their first number.  This means that even if it says “Do Not Double” on the coupon, it will still double automatically! If it says “9”, it will not double automatically.  In the video I show you where to look for that number on the coupon. It is up to your store’s coupon policy to determine if your store will double those coupons or not. UPDATE: It doesn’t matter anymore about that as the new barcode system is out.

The reason some coupons say “Do Not Double” is because manufacturers want to be clear that they will not cover the costs of the doubling, and are only reimbursing the store for the face value of the coupon. There are certain cases where a coupon may say $.50, and a store will double it, and the manufacturer will reimburse the store the whole $1!  But in most cases, they will only reimuburse the store $.50, and they put “Do Not Double” to be clear that is how much they will reiumburse the store.

When a store has a double coupon day or always does them, they know they are not going to be reimbursed for anything other then the amount on the coupon.  So the store should accept that coupon in their store promotion since nothing is different about the amount they will be reimbursed as opposed to any other manufacturer’s coupon.

Here’s a list of store coupon policies and if they double or not!  Example: Kmart will double DND coupons.

What are your thoughts on this??? I’d love to hear them!

TEXT Rite Aid training here.

Coupon shopping at Rite Aid just got better –

UPDATE: I didn’t make it very clear in the video: Each advertised +UP Reward is limited to 1 per transaction; unless otherwise stated in the ad or else it’s a fluke. For example, if you purchase 2 bottles of Clariol in one transaction, you will only receive 1 $1 +UP Reward. So if you are interested in purchasing more than one of the same +UP Reward item, be sure that you purchase each item in a separate transaction!

Separate transactions CAN be applied to single check rebates for the same month.

If a price is “buy 2 get a +UP reward”, you have to buy two for the +UP to print!

Fluke? Sometimes multiple+UP rewards will print for a product that weren’t advertised.  This happens with Huggies alot.  If that happens, readers let us know and I update the deals to work some more great scenerios!

My video walks you through a complex deal to make it easy for newbies to get paid to shop at Rite Aid.  You’ve never truly shopped at Rite Aid until you “stack”, “roll”, and “rebate” in multiple transactions.  It’s easy.  I’ll show you how.

My Rite Aid video training teaches you how to “stack”:

  1. in-ad store coupons
  2. manufacturer’s coupons
  3. video value coupons
  4. IMPORTANT NOTE: You can no longer use both an in-ad coupon with a VV coupon (You could do that back in the good old days!).

My video teaches you when to scan your $5/25 coupons and Wellness card (scanning them at the wrong time can ruin a transaction!).  Then my Rite Aid training video teaches you how to “roll” your UP rewards into another purchase.

Last but not least, I show you how to login to Rite Aid’s video values and enter your rebates – no mailing rebates required!

How do I know you can stack video values coupons with in-ad coupons? Rite Aid’s own ad shown below states that you can use the in-ad coupon with the video values coupon!

I receive emails daily from people with questions.  Here’s  a new video I made today to go along with my others store Videos that answers a lot of stacking coupon questions and printable coupon questions.

In the video I talk about coupon policies, view each stores coupon policy.

I also teach how to “stack” a manufacturer’s coupon with a store coupon.  You can read a text walk-though of how store coupons and manufacturer’s coupon work.

In the video I talk about these sources of coupons:

Rite Aid Video Values No Longer Available
Redplum.com
Smartsource.com
Coupons.com
Target.com

I didn’t mention eCoupons: but I should have! These do “stack” with coupons from above.  You don’t have to print them, you just type in your rewards card number for your grocery store and when you swipe your card at checkout it will deduct your coupons. Learn all about eCoupons now!

Sometimes newbies to couponing get confused by learning all the new rules to rebates, single check rebates, register rewards, and catalinas. They also don’t want to drive to five different stores each week to get the deals. If this is you, price matching at Walmart may be your most efficient option. Follow me on a shopping trip where I show you what you can and can’t do.

Go here for a list of 57 items free or near a dollar at Walmart, including links to print all printable coupons you will need for your shopping trip.

$1 off if you buy one of each
=$1.50 each

Last, I used a $5 off of any $25 purchase coupon from last sunday’s newspaper.

I didn’t get any register rewards, that is a bit more complicated, but here is how those work:

1. You can only get one Register Reward per promotion in a single purchase.  You can buy 2 of the same item, but they would have to be rung up separately. You can get multiple Register Rewards in one purchase when you buy products from different promotions.

2. You cannot use the exact Register Reward on the same promotion in a following transaction.  Ie.. if you buy Olay and get a RR (Register Reward) you cannot use that RR to buy another Olay.  If you do so, you will not receive a second RR.  You either have to pay for the soap and accumulate the catalinas for a different purchase, or you’ll need to use the catalinas from a different promotion to pay for the second Olay.

3. You have to have as many items purchased as coupons (RR is considered a coupon)! If you bought one Olay and tried to use a coupon and a RR it would not be accepted.  You would need to buy one more item so you have 2 products and 2 coupons. The extra item you buy doesn’t have to match up with any coupons!

4. Register Rewards and coupons can not be applied towards sales tax.  You will always have to pay the full tax amount for every purchase even if the products were free.
