Total for this week: I paid $69.00 for $101.99 worth of groceries; I saved: $32.99 (I am disappointed)

I am doing a new thing where at the end of the week I show all that I spent for the week. This way at the end of the month I can see how much money I am spending monthly.  I have  a family of 4, so anything under $100 per week for all food, drinks, eating out, toiletries, haircare products, diapers and baby formula is my goal. I have 2 kids in diapers, so this may sound ambitious but I accomplished it this week!

Here is my second weekly review:

My Dollar Tree Shopping Trip Dec. 7: $9.61

My Walmart Shopping Trip Dec. 9: Saved $25.69

K-mart Shopping Trip Dec. 10: Saved $7.30

My K-mart shopping trip Dec. 12: 4 “D” batteries & Starburst for $7.49 (boo me, I didn’t even take my coupon binder with me! I wouldn’t have bought these not-on-sale but I needed them right then.)

Total for this week:

PAID: $69.00

SAVED: $32.99 (I didn’t count any saving from my Dollar Tree trip because I have no idea how much I saved on my makeup, probably $10)

Plus, I spent over $37 on Christmas presents, only saving $10 on them.  Pretty weak compared to my big savings last week!

Disney is BACK!

We have this awesome theater in Spanish Fork where you can see new releases for $4, and kids under 3 are free! So I took my daughter to see the Princess and the Frog tonight.

Finally, Disney has gone back to their roots.  This movie had music with lyrics and the main characters dancing about.  That is something that has been missing from several of the latest Disney projects. This movie is going to be infamous like The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.  And the hand-drawn animation is stellar; the computer generation stuff was cool at first, but now it is too lifelike. My 2-year-old daughter doesn’t pay attention to computer-generated movies with all talk and no dancing and singing.  She was on the edge of her seat during this whole show, captivated by its magic.  Thank you Disney!

P.S. the New Orleans street-style voodoo magician was a truly unique villain!

Update: I just read other reviews of this movie and people who hadn’t even seen it were up in arms about it! Heated discussions everywhere. What are your thoughts?

We love to give out little gifts of jars full of special useful items. Like Chris’s dad loves the powder hot cider, or the great smooth hot chocolate in a jar! Click Here for 34 different ideas to give a gift in a jar!

Edible Chocolate Body Scrub:

* 1/2 cup rolled oats
* 1/2 cup cocoa nibs
* 1/2 cup kosher salt
* 2 tablespoons unsweetened
* cocoa powder
* 1/2 cup jojoba oil
* 1/2 cup sweet almond oil
* 2 tablespoons vitamin E oil

1. Use a food processor or blender to grind the oats into a powder.
2. Add the cocoa nibs, cocoa powder, salt, almond oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E oil.
3. Hit pulse a few times to blend.
4. Store in a glass or plastic jar, and scoop out for use with a spoon or a seashell.
5. Massage the scrub into skin, then rinse with warm water.
Who would have thought you could not only eat chocolate but you can use it as a body scrub? This amazing craft is yummy and helps out with your skin. Make as many as you wish and give them as Christmas gifts in a jar. It works best at the end of a hot bath

The eBook has instructions for favorites including M&M Cookie Mix in a Jar (page 12), Hearty Soup Mix in a Jar (page 21), and Fleece Hat Snowman Jars (page 54).

UPDATE: I just heard from a reader that this deal won’t work because the coupon is for digital cameras, thanks to the reader for letting us all know!
Target has their Kodak Fun Saver Disposable Cameras for $4. There’s a $5 off Kodak Camera Store coupon HERE. You should be able to use it to get it for FREE.

This should work but I haven’t tried it. For those of you with Targets that don’t mark down the coupons, you may have issues. Their coupon policy HERE does say that coupon amounts can be reduced but I think it’s left up to the individual stores.

A camera to give to the kids–or to use if you don’t want to bring your “good camera” with. I hope this works for you, as it could be a nice stocking stuffer. Good Luck!

Thanks for sharing, The Coupon Geek.

I love checking my mail and email and getting random free samples or coupons.  Vocalpoint sent me coupons for $3 off Kashi cereal, and full-size Kashi cereal was $3 at Walmart so I got it free.  I am sure glad I didn’t spend my money on that stuff! I couldn’t even pawn it off on my starving college-student brother!  I think we ended up trashing it. Really, it was that bad. Here are two sites I get a lot of freebies from by signing up for their mailing list:

Home Made Simple Home Made Simple: they email and mail you special offers, samples, coupons, and sweepstakes offers from brands like Cascade, Dawn, Febreze, Mr. Clean, and Swiffer.

Vocal PointVocalpoint: Mails coupons and free samples directly to your home.  Has users offer reviews of the products so you know if they are good or not.

Anyone else got free samples of things and decided you were glad you tried it before you bought it?
