UPDATE: forgot the link! I just added it – so busy this morning!

My brother Jack just called and told me about this -and why isn’t it on my site?  Truth is, I’ve been playing with my kids all morning!  It is the perfect temperature outside- not too hot, not too cold.

Type in “GOBIG8X10” and get a free 8×10 photo collage from Walgreen’s free with in-store pickup. Great gift for grandparents too.

I just found out I left one of the Deal of the Day sites list – I just added them:

GraveyardMall.com I haven’t used it much, but it offers one hot deal that is similar to 1SaleADay.com, it is not a local deal but an online deal that everyone can do.  They look like pretty good deals so I’ll watch them and let you know if there is ever a real hot one.

Thanks, Happy Deal – Happy Day!

I got the Stewart Fashion Silk Tie shown above to review from ABC Neckties; I didn’t tell my husband about the review so I could give it to him for Father’s Day.    I always get the mail since it comes when he is at work so I was going to get the tie and stash it from him.  Of course the tie came a few days before I expected.  I was spending the entire Memorial week at my parents house and thought the tie would come after the holidays.  It came while I was gone and my husband called me to say we randomly got a tie in the mail.

I said “Hide that tie.  I can still surprise you with it on Father’s Day” and he laughed. He wore it to church this week.   I’m still counting it as his Father’s Day present though!

My husband says it is great quality tie.   My husband served a mission and wore ties everyday for two years, and so he knows his ties.   He’s got dozens.  This is one of his new favorites.

ABC Neckties has every type of tie you can think of and you can search by color, style, or browse novelty ties.

I am hoping that we can get the winner of the giveaway their tie before Father’s Day because I think it’d be  a great gift.

Giveaway: 1 Winner Will Get any Tie of their Choice from ABC Neckties!  ABC Neckties will send you your tie, but I’ll do my best to get it to you by Father’s Day.  Giveaway is a short 24 hour entry time so that we can select a winner and get their tie to them in time!

HERE’S HOW TO ENTER TO WIN:

  • MANDATORY: Leave a comment letting us know what you’re giving dad/hubby this Father’s Day.
  • OPTIONAL EXTRA ENTRY: follow @ABCNeckties (Twitter) and leave a comment saying that you did
  • OPTIONAL EXTRA ENTRY: “like” ABC Neckties Facebook page
  • OPTIONAL EXTRA ENTRY: “like” Cuckoo for Coupon Deals on Facebook

4 entries max – remember to leave a new comment for each entry (this is slightly different then our other system of entries where you only have to leave one comment and you select the drop-down lists; I’m trying to decide which way people like best- let me know).

Please enter your email address in the required e-mail field only.  Do not type it in your comment box because spambots will see it and spam you.  Your email address will be saved to your comment in our database so you can be instantly notified if you are selected as the winner.
Entry is open to US residents. Ends 10:00AM MST on Thursday, June 10th. Winner will be chosen using a third party site, random.org, announced on this site, and have 24 hours to respond or an alternate will be chosen.  Disclosure: I was in no way paid for this review and this is my honest opinion.

After over a year of potty training, I have decided to throw out the books. Everything people told me to do simply didn’t work.

  1. Pull-ups didn’t work.
  2. “Potty treats” didn’t work.
  3. Time-out if she had an accident didn’t work.
  4. Giving her months at a time where we didn’t do anything, waiting for her to say she was ready to potty train didn’t work.
  5. Letting her pick out her own “special big girl underwear” didn’t work.
  6. Letting her pick out her own training potty didn’t work.
  7. Sitting her on the potty every 30 minutes didn’t work.

Four days ago I finally started something that did work.  We put her in the underwear.   If she wet it, we didn’t let her have a drink until next time she used the potty.  She loves juice and wants drinks all the time.  She was so upset not to have her drinks.  She threw tantrums, but I held firm.

Two days ago she started running to the potty when she had to go.  If she even tried to go, we’d give her a drink of juice.  If she went in the potty, we gave her a whole Capri Sun.

Yesterday she started making it to the potty, sometimes.  Every time we gave her juice.

Today she’s doing even better.   I think she’s only going because she wants juice, but it is better then not going at all.

I’ve know everyone says to let them do it on their own time. But when all the kids her age were potty trained over a year ago, I just started getting desperate.

Am I too harsh, taking away her favorite thing if she doesn’t use the potty? Maybe. But has anyone else had success with pull-ups?

Read about day 2 here

We assembled all sides and then sewed them together.  3/4 of the day was spent on this tree. It was worth it.  The owl and fruit were put on with velcro, so the kids can take them off and move them around.  That and the window are their favorite parts to play with.

Such a fun project!  My girls love this and will be such a fun keepsake.

If I made it again:

  1. I would put something hard inbetween the fabric where the window is, becase my girls have been crawling through the window stretching the fabric out.
  2. I also wouldn’t do the scalloped roof, it seems to make it harder to make everything look straight and nice.
  3.  I’d put more things that can be velcroed on the playhouse for the girls to play with since they really enjoy that.   Also, I didn’t put any fun velcro animals on the inside of the house, and I wish I did since its kinda plain inside.

Well this weekend is booked with other family activities (I’m on vacation), but I will be back to getting all the deals to you next week!

Read about day 1 purchasing supplies here.

Sorry I’m not posting many coupon deals today – I’ve been busy.

As you can see, when I get to working some things get neglicted.  My workspaces are usually managaries.  I’ll clean when I’m done.  Do you clean as you go, or wait until your done and do cleaning once? My husband cleans as he goes and I think I drive him bonkers.

I found a card table at the D.I. for $8.  Seemed over-priced to me for an old card table, but they aren’t very negotiable at the D.I.!

Then I had to take my sewing machine out of the box.  Yeah, that’s how often I use it…

After day 2, one side of the playhouse was finished!  I will start the second wall today, hopefully more.  I believe if you don’t have kids to chase and could concentrate on the playhouse, it could be done in one day.   But as a mom with two toddlers, let’s see how long the rest takes!

Here’s what I got done, plus you can slightly see the card table in the picture which will be what I put the playhouse over for support.

This week I’m attempting to make a felt playhouse similar to the one shown above.   Those of you who know me are lurched over your keyboards laughing- you can hardly breath as you gasp between laughs. I am not a crafty person.  I am not artistically gifted or creative.  But I have the pattern and copying detailed steps I may be capable of.  With the help of my mom.

My first step was buying the “ingredients” (above).   JoAnn’s has a 50% off one item coupon out right now that came in Saturday newspapers.  If you didn’t get it, just ask an employee- they usually have one at the checkout. I used the 50% off on the largest felt piece and got all the supplies for $30.28 – $7 under the cost of ordering supplies on Fabric.com!

This week will be a crazy one – I’ll be trying to get the playhouse made with my mother most of the week, so posts will be on the “light” side.  But I’ll keep you updated on my journey through creating my little girls’ playhouse.
