I had some fun shopping this morning.  I will let do a “guess what I spent & saved” on Saturday to have you guess my totals and win freebies as usual, I just wanted to post the great deals that I verified are working, so you can get them before they end next Tuesday:

Buy (10) boxes: Quaker Oatmeal, Cap’n Crunch, or Life Cereal $1 each
Use (2) $3/5 and Quaker products coupon from the Macey’s and/or Fresh Market circular ad this week (I got both of these in my mail, so I had 2 $3/5 coupons)
Final Price= $.40 each plus a catalina will print with a FREE movie ticket! These are valid at lot’s of theaters, I’m using mine at Provo Towne Center theater.

Here’s some printable coupons that would make the Quaker items free:

$1.00/1 Quaker True Delights Instant Oatmeal on Quaker site
$1/1 Quaker Instant Oatmeal or Old Fashioned Oats on Quaker site
$1/1 Quaker Instant Oatmeal or Old Fashioned Oats! (it was on page 7 for me, can only print once, thanks Utah Deal Diva!)

If you print 10 of the coupons above:

Get 10 boxes of free Quaker products + a free movie ticket (valued at $8.50) all for FREE

Other items I purchased in the buy 10, get a free movie ticket promo so I could get 2 movie tickets:

Buitoni Pasta & Sauce $2.99 (plus participating in the movie ticket promo)
$1.00/1 Buitoni Coupon Link
Final Price=$1.99 + FREE Movie Ticket when you buy 10 participating products (Quaker, etc..)

Now once the kids wake up from nap-time its on to Home Depot to see what trees we can get with the new B1G1 Tree Free coupon.

UPDATE: Some Macey’s are redacting this coupon! Bummer! They are saying it should have been for the 8 oz. not the 2.5 oz.

Thanks to Daurie who emailed me to let me know that she was able to get four free Armour lunchmakers (like lunchables) today at Macey’s with the budget buster coupon booklet.  They are $.99 and there’s a coupon for $1.50 off 1, limit of 4 per customer. Great find Daurie!

Make sure to check your mail carefully today! I got a huge coupon booklet from Macey’s.  It is grey, 4″x6″ approximately, and has dozens of high-value coupons.  My favorite? Right on the front it has $3 off ANY super saver meat package.  Chicken, beef, pork, it looks like it will work on anything. So go find some old meat that has been discounted because it needs sold, use the coupon, and cook it up for dinner soon!

P.S. Two new coupons on Fresh Market’s coupon page here.

I was at Macey’s in Spanish Fork today (I was the lady with two screaming kids).  Anyways, Dryer’s Ice Cream has an unadvertised sale for

$2.50 each
$1/1 (S 1/31-page 32)
=”scoop it up” for $1.50 each.

I noticed they had a bunch of Dreyer’s Girl Scout cookie flavored ice creams.

I went to Macey’s today and did average:
Used $28.50 in-store and manufacturer’s coupons
+ most items I got were on sale 30-50% off even before in-store coupons, so if you add in those savings
= I saved much more than $28.50.

Spent $31.88 for 34 items ($0.93 per item) view a list of all the current Macey’s deals here (all deals I did are on this printable list)

I get emails from people really stressing if they can’t find a deal for something they want. I try to only buy items on sale, but I don’t have an extra freezer in my garage (most people in Utah do; I am a rarity). So I sometimes buy ice cream when it isn’t on sale, because I can’t stock up when it is on sale.  I will be the first to admit I am not the perfect coupon shopper!  See the picture above? I paid the full price of $3 for ice cream today. Hopefully that makes you feel better about your deals or lack thereof.   Try not to sweat the small stuff!  It can make you go cuckoo.

I could have drove 25 miles to Target to price match the Big Lots ad, thereby only paying $1 for my All 2x laundry detergents instead of $1.49 at Macey’s, but it wouldn’t be worth the gas money, time, or stress unless I needed something else at Target, and I don’t. So I didn’t.  But I did get the “Coupon High”!

I didn’t get this deal because I hadn’t printed it, but I noticed at Macey’s:

starkist-tuna chunk light

2.6 oz. pouches of Starkist Chunk Light Tuna were on sale for $1
$/1 Starkist Pouch printable coupon(IE Link) (FF Link)

Final Price= FREE

For our Fresh Market and Macey’s coupon match-ups you can click on items you plan to buy, and then create a printable shopping list.  We received emails stating that there were large gaps on the page that prints out with different browsers.  This has been fixed.  Please email us any more suggestions for our new printable shopping list and/or other stores you would like printable shopping lists for.

Coming soon: ability to type directly onto your list before you print it out to add items not found on the match-ups, i.e., type in “pick up milk and see what their price for baking soda is”

Get Chex cereal for $.75 at Macey’s.

Buy 4 boxes, use 2 $1/2 coupons from SmartSource 12/13 + use last week’s Maceys in-ad coupon = $.75. There is an in-ad coupon with this deal, but my Macey’s never cares if you don’t have it just tell them and they’ll give it to ya as long as you buy 4.

Total for this week: I paid $64.48 for$213.97 worth of groceries; I saved: $149.49 (70%!!!)

I am doing a new thing where at the end of the week I show all that I spent for the week. This way at the end of the month I can see how much money I am spending monthly.  I have  a family of 4, so anything under $100 per week for all food, drinks, eating out, toiletries, haircare products, diapers and baby formula is my goal. I have 2 kids in diapers, so this may sound ambitious but I accomplished it this week!

Here is my first weekly review:

$20.25, detailed breakdown here (saved $28.24)

$25, detailed breakdown here (saved $80.25)

Made $1, detailed breakdown here (saved $17)
$16.54, detailed breakdown here (saved $24)

+ I spent $3.69 on 2 gallons of milk at Macey’s

Total for this week:

PAID: $64.48

SAVED: $149.49

This is a very cheap meal to make.  Until Dec. 8, Buy Low Market in Provo, UT has boneless skinless chicken breasts for $1.19 lb, which is a CUCKOO deal.  I have bought 40 lbs from them and frozen it in freezer bags.  I will defrost some for this meal.

Stuffing was $.78 at Walmart all last month, I think we should all be stocked up on it.

In August there were tons of deals on canned tomatoes. I got mine at Macey’s.

Macey’s had Kraft shredded cheese for $.98, and I had $.50 off coupons.  Shredded cheese can be frozen and un-thawed in the refrigerator, so I bought 15 bags.  I take out one bag from my freezer a week to un-thaw and use for the next week. Note: Chunk cheese, or regular cheese  that is not pre-shredded does not un-thaw well and I would not freeze it!

So as I stock up on food, I am going to share recipes I make with the food from my storage.

Bruschetta Chicken Bake:

  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes with green chiles inside
  • 1 pkg. Stove Top stuffing mix
  • 1/2 c water
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 c. mozzarella cheese
  1. Preheat the oven to 400
  2. Place the tomatoes, stuffing mix, water & salt & peper in a bowl & mix
  3. Place chicken in 13×9 in. baking dish, sprinkle with cheese. Top with stuffing mixture.
  4. Bake for 45 min uncovered.  Put more cheese on top for last 5 minutes
