givingWays to Give This Holiday Season:

1. Fresh Market (a Utah AFS) is doing “Season to Share” where all you have to do is tell your cashier at checkout you would like to donate $1, $5, or $10 to your local food bank.

2. Churches: Most churches accept donations specifically for the poor and needy. An example is the LDS church is always accepting donations for their extensive food program.  The LDS Distribution Center is run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and sells items at cost, making most items inexpensive or even free! Visit http://www.ldsphilanthropies.org/ to find out more about how they use donations to give aid to people all over the world, regardless of race/religion.

3. Feed A Need with Reddit – Add your qualifications to Reddit’s “Database of Awesome” and be ready to give 2 hours of your time to one of the project’s partnering charities.

4. SocialVibe – Select your charity (e.g., One Laptop Per Child), your sponsor (e.g., Apple), grab and display your badge on your social profiles, and earn points for donations to your charity.

5. Instant Message for Good – The more messages you send, the more ad revenue Microsoft Live Messenger kicks to the charity of your choice (American Red Cross, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and more).

6. Salisbury Homes is giving away 8 playhouses filled with toys and food to 8 families in Utah. Know a family you want to win? Read more here

I will be updating this post as I hear of more ways to give this Christmas season. Please post ways to give and I’ll add them to the list.

2. Save $15 via Mail In Rebate on the purchase of any electronic item(s) with a purchase price exceeding $100.00 You can mail in multiple receipts, so you could purchase multiple items and add them up to get this rebate. Expires 12/31/09. Valid in: AL, AR, KY, MO, NC, UT, VA, and WV.

I will mail these to the first person to comment on this post!  If you only want one, then the second person to comment gets the other one! I must have your email address to correspond with you and get your mailing address.

If you don’t win, don’t fret. I got these Mail In Rebates at the Fresh Market in Spanish Fork today, in the beer aisle. Nationwide, check any local local store when you go in, most stores leave MIR’s near the beer aisle or at customer service. Sometimes they are hard to find because people grab them all, which is silly really since they are limit one per address.

Thanks!

turkeyI just got the new circular ads for next week, (Wed-Tues. grocery store ads), and so far Walmart $.40 lb Turkey is looking the cheapest! Buy Low Market in Orem comes in second with $.59 lb turkey, while supplies last. If you want to get yours at Buy Low, I’d go tomorrow when the sale starts!

$2/1 off a whole Butterball Turkey Coupon on Smartsource. These are $.98 lb at Walmart. The $.40 lb turkeys at Walmart are a different brand!  So you can do one or the other there.

Macey’s: If you have been accumulating Turkey Vouchers, you can use these on their $1.38 spiral ham, which is what I did today since they have the best price on it, or on Prime Rib.  Other AFS may let you do this as well if you want to use up those vouchers but want to get your turkey somewhere else.
