Winning Wednesdays: Each week I post new giveaways on Wednesdays – most end the following Tuesday.

JAWS lets you use the same cleaning bottle again and again and just replace a small cleaning cartridge for the bottle – so there are no wasted plastic cleaning bottles. (JAWS stands for Just Add Water System.) You add your own tap water to the standard size JAWS cleaning bottle, insert a small cylindrical cartridge – and presto – your household cleaner is ready to use.

I tried these out and they were super easy to use! And a great way to save plastic bottles from going to landfills since you re-use the same bottle each time.

Cost: Under $2 per refill kit + bonus points for being good for the environment!

Follow JAWS on Facebook!

5 lucky CCD readers will each win a JAWS Cleaning Product Pack that includes:

  • JAWS Glass & Hard Surface Cleaner with 2 Refill Cartridges
  • JAWS Multi-Purpose Cleaner/Degreaser with 2 Refill Cartridges
  • JAWS Bathroom Cleaner/Deodorizer with 2 Refill Cartridges
  • JAWS Disinfectant Cleaner Degreaser with 2 Refill Cartridges

The 3 people with the most entries win!       (winners chosen by having the most entries)

Regardless of # of entries, 2 others are still eligible to win! (winners chosen at random)

To enter: enter your email in the box below to subscribe to my email list.  That’s all you have to do! But you can get extra entries – watch my video on how to use Contest Burner to get extra entries in giveaways!

Got too much stockpile? That’s where Couponing for Community comes into play! It is a blessing to give. I always feel better giving than receiving!  So I would like to encourage all of you to set aside some extra items you don’t need and donate them to charity all year – May 8-14 is the official drive though!

Deuteronomy 15:11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

Lists of places to donate your stockpiles:

Ask CCD Readers: If you know of anywhere in your state to donate, or nationwide, leave a comment and I’ll add it to this list!

What do you have in your hand? Perhaps you, like Moses, feel that you have nothing with which you can serve God. But think about what your neighbours need. Maybe you can help them with whatever is in your hand. Maybe that is exactly what they need. –Dick Nieusma

Or… something that everyone already thought of and I am the last to think of it?

As I was giving my girls a bath the other day, I realized instead of just sitting and doing nothing as I usually do, I could scrub the toilet and clean the bathroom.   Since the girls take 1/2 hour baths (most of bath time is play time for them), this was a great time to get the cleaning done in the bathroom while still keeping an eye on them.

Now I started rotating between their bathroom & mine for their baths, so I get mine cleaned up too.   And we have very hard water, so our toilets need cleaned often or they get grimy build up.   I think my girls are watching their mom clean and learning about hard work plus my house is looking cleaner, so I think it’s a good thing.

As for the hard water, when we do get stains I have found Lime Away to be the only product that works.  Have you found a product that works great?

Well, I can’t keep track of all the daily deal sites! There’s another one called Bitsy Bug that offers deals for new moms and young kids for 50% off or more! They are offering CCD readers a free $5 credit for signing up.  If you sign up, you can refer friends and get $10 if they purchase a deal, but they don’t get the $5 for signing up.

The free $5 credit offer is only available through this link and I just got an email that they are ending the offer “in a few days.” I am not sure when that is, but I would sign up now and hold on to that $5 credit for if there is a deal you want to snatch!

They have some cute clothes and other deals that will be really cheap with that $5 credit!

Login to Living Social and click on the red cross banner underneath the Living Social logo – for every $5 you donate, Living Social will give $10 to the Red Cross!

Head over to the Voskos Greek Yogurt Facebook page and “like” them. Through March 22nd, Voskos Yogurt will donate $1 to a Japan earthquake relief fund for every Facebook “like” to this status. (Thanks, Family Friendly Frugality!)  Make sure to like their status, not just their page!  I’m not sure if it is just that status or the page you have to like to get the donation.

Through March 31st, AT&T wireless postpaid customers (i.e. those who receive a monthly bill from the company) will not be charged for international long distance usage from the United States and Puerto Rico to Japan and will not be charged for text messages to Japan originated from a U.S. wireless number.

Through April 10th, most Verizon wireless and residential customers can make calls to Japan for free; Verizon postpaid customers in the U.S. will receive free text and multimedia messaging to Japan for the same time period. (Thanks, Ohio Coupon Connection)

You can go to and make a donation. $1=1 pair of shoes.  You can also donate shoes.

You can get American Airlines miles when you donate through the American Red Cross

Any donations to LDS Humanitarian Services are always sure to be used directly toward people in need and not used toward administrative costs.  All LDS workers are volunteers, so there are no administration costs.  Online donations can be made through the Humanitarian Services Giving section of the LDS Philanthropies Web site.

Ask CCD Readers: Do you have any other ways to donate that you would recommend?

Most of you know I am quite frugal, so up until about a week ago I never had paid to have any design work done on my site, I always did it myself.  Part of the problem was finding someone to do it for cheap!

I found this new site called where you start a competition to have your logo made, or site redesigned, or any other design work you need done.  I ran a contest for my site header.  During the contest, you can submit feedback to each designer on things you’d like them to change.

One designer was very quick to make the changes I requested, and I ended up loving his design.  I think it’s unique and not like every-other-site out there.  His name is Agustin and he is offering CCD readers 20% off any of his design work – just mention my site!

He was super easy to work with and his prices are crazy low compared to some of the quotes I got from other designers!

Here’s a little more about Agustin:

My name is Agustin Etchegaray and I’m 23. I have a degree in Graphic Design & Audiovisual Communication. I work as a freelancer but also for a Design & Communication studio. I’ve worked for the studio at distance (in different cities) and the work group dynamics is great, so being far away from the client isn’t a problem. Checkout my portfolio: People can also contact me via e-mail: agustin.etchegaray.dg@gmail(DOT)com
His portfolio is extremely impressive!  He only did my site header, but I feel like it has really changed the entire look of my site.  He also does print design too, not just web design.

I’d like to leave the house today, but I can’t.

You see, there are some things you never imagine happening when you aren’t looking.  Like the time my 2-year-old went potty in my vent.

And the same 2-year-old is at it again.  I was so excited to see some sunlight outside, finally, that I wanted to take my girls for a walk.  But when we got to the door, there were no shoes in our “shoe area”.  We have a set area right when you walk in from the garage for shoes.  They are always there – we don’t wear shoes in the house.

But they aren’t there today.  I’m talking about 10 pairs of shoes (about 3 per family member) just gone.

I searched in cupboards first.  Then closets. Then under beds. Then the basement.

Now I’m getting desparate.  I really want to know where all those shoes could have gone! It has to be a pretty big area for that amount of shoes.

Yes, I checked our freezer and the vents.

I’ll update the post when (if?) I find them and let you know where they are…

Ask CCD Readers: Has anything like this happened to you?

Here’s how to score some FREE rental credits just by referring your friends to Redbox!

  1. Head over to the Redbox page and click on the “Get Started” button. Login/register with Redbox and you will then be directed to the Refer-A-Friend Program page where you can get your unique link!
  2. Once your friend completes a reservation using your unique link, you’ll get an email letting you know that your rental credit is pending and subject to approval. It can take up to 72 hours before the transaction is approved and a rental credit is deposited into your account. You’ll get another email from Redbox once your rental credit is ready to use.
  3. Note that your rental credit is valid for 10 days after it has been deposited into your account.

I don’t live near a Redbox and I do Netflix anyways, so PLEASE leave your referral link in the comments so you can get more signups!

Side note: Do not ever rent the movie “Stone”.  I don’t know how it ended up on our netflix list, but it was sooo bad.  Horribly raunchy and you keep thinking something is going to happen and nothing ever does.  Huge mistake!

DO rent “Just Go With It” it is one of Adam Sandler’s better shows!  It has a big twist that is super cute that I didn’t see coming.

TLC has picked up the series Extreme Couponing for another 12 half-hour episodes!  Set your DVR’s for 9 PM EST on April 8th, 2011.  You can checkout a trailor for Extreme Couponing here.

I love watching all the totals and savings, what about you?  Many people think the show extreme couponing is unrealistic.  Here’s my two cents:

The average couponer can expect to save 50%: Some items, such as drugstore items and hygiene items, couponers get for free at CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreen’s.   Other items, such as fresh fruit and produce, have much less coupons and unless you can roll catalinas to pay for these items, you’re not going to get huge discounts on them.  Your best bet is to watch weekly ads for the best sales on produce.  So an average couponer will average out at about 50% savings.

This also largely depends on your area; some areas of the country have a plethora of great stores to shop at, while others have slim pickings.

If you really want to learn how to coupon properly, read my free 10-page how to extreme coupon guide.

Remember when I posted the deal for $11.55 for the 2011 entertainment coupon book? Mine just came and I was happy to see FOUR coupons for $5 off any $50 purchase at ANY Kroger or affiliates, like Smith’s!

It’s as thick as a phone book!

There were a few bonus coupons too, plus TONS of amazing restaurant deals and oh boy am I excited!

Right now these are $19.99 + free shipping, and you can get 30% cash back if you go through ShopAtHome. I’ve seen better deals, but no matter what you pay you are going to easily get your money back in this book!  I’ll keep you posted if I see any more great deals on these!

Printing copies of coupons is illegal, so I put red lines through the barcodes in photoshop so no one could photo-copy them

Ask CCD Readers: Did you get yours? Any great deals you found?
