Family
Lately I can’t even watch PG-13 movies without cringing. There is always one bad scene that ruins the whole movie for my family. Now that I have a daughter with big eyes and ears, I’ve started to be more careful about what I let get into them. There was a service called Clean Flicks that I used but it went under. I am excited that there is a new DVD player that edits the sex, violence and profanity out of shows and converts standard DVDs to High Definition called ClearPlay. It seems easy enough:

1. Pick your movie.
The ClearPlay DVD player works with any regular DVD you rent or already own.
2. Download your filters and insert the USB into the Clearplay DVD player.
Included with your player is a small thumb dive. Just plug this into the USB port on your computer, log in to your account on our website and select the movies you want to watch.
3. Enjoy the show.
ClearPlay works by telling the player what scenes to skip. Just put the thumb drive into your player and select what you want the player to skip — everything from profanity to nudity. Then just sit back and enjoy the show.
I would love to know if any of you have tried this. My family gets Netflix so we watch a lot of movies.Click here to learn more.
If anyone has this or tries it out please let me know how it goes.
My maximum budget is $100 per week for our family of four.
This week I spent $108.86. I’m in the red! I will make up for it next week or my husband will take away my shopping privileges; he is serious this time! 🙂
This week I saved $179.16 = $62% savings
How did you do?
Made $9.06. Spent $10. Saved $19.51

I’m sure many of us are having a hard time reminding our kids that Christmas really isn’t just about gifts and Santa Clause. Having a Christmas nativity video is a fun way of incorporating the true meaning of Christmas into our family lessons in a way that captures kid’s attention.
Currently, Living Scriptures is offering a 5-pack of the Animated Nativity DVD for only $5.50! That price includes shipping and tax!
Each pack actually comes with 6 DVD’s: five Animated Nativity DVD’s and one Jesus Returns DVD. The idea is for you to purchase the pack, keep one Animated Nativity and Jesus Returns for your family, then share the remaining four nativity DVD’s with others. The recipients can then call the number on their DVD and get a copy of Jesus Returns of their own- for FREE!

To My Family:
I love snowy Christmas mornings.
I love the lights in December. I love the music (my husband lets me start blasting it officially the day after Thanksgiving, but if I had my way it would be playing already!). I love decorating my house, particularly our $40 Walmart fake Christmas tree we bought when we were first married and it was the only thing we could afford for Christmas that first year. We still have the same tree. I love the Christmas movies. I love “secret santa” giving. I love getting (I am not going to lie to sound humble!) . I love shopping for: my daughters, my husband, my brothers, my sisters, nieces, nephews, the sick, the needy, my dad’s dog, well anyone. I love the thrill of finding a great deal and thinking “wow this is exactly what Jack wants!”.
I love love love Christmas.
I love saying “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays”. I love having various nativity sets all over my house. I love going to Christmas Pagents. I love hearing about Baby Jesus and reading the Christmas story straight from the scriptures.
I can get a little carried away with things, and one is Christmas. I am already begging my husband to get our lights up on our house! Well, the reason for this post is that on ABC Family right now “A Dennis the Menace Christmas” is playing at 9:00 MST tonight, and I won’t be posting deals because I’ll be watching it with a big bowl of popcorn. I love ABC’s 25 days of Christmas.
Have a happy thanksgiving, get some cuckoo deals on Black Friday, but most of all have a Merry Christmas.
Side note about cuckoo deal shopping in December: If you find deals that you don’t need, but they are free or you can afford them, make sure to scoop them up and donate them to a local charity or church; these deals are greatly appreciated all year, but if you can’t afford it all year, remember that you can really make a difference in how other people’s Christmas’s go with a simple gift.
You know those days when you just don’t know what to cook?!!?
