Best Mobile Smartphone Apps for Couponing 2016

I had people request what are the best mobile apps for couponers, so here are my favorites! Please leave a comment with yours too!

Cuckoo for Coupon Deals:

You will NEVER miss a deal with the Cuckoo for Coupon Deals app – download it free on Android or itunes (apple) or  Windows phone app store.  Plus every week we giveaway a $25 gift card to one app user!  And we have new improved printable lists which are easier to click on your mobile browser.

SYWR Kmart/Sears App:

Download the free SYWR app to easily view your surprise points and get Kmart & Sears coupons.

Also download the Win It app – people win SYW points daily with it!  Those points can be used at Kmart or Sears.

Ibotta is a FREE Android & iPhone app. I find it easier to navigate than Shopkick and typically use it the most out of all apps. Here’s how to use it:

  • First, login to Ibotta and select the deals you are doing.   Just click on them with your phone, so easy!
  • Perform small tasks, like reading about how Chapstick works, taking 1-question polls, or sharing on FB to get $ added to the value of the coupon
  • To redeem your cash back, you will need to take a picture of your receipt and scan the barcode of the product you purchased. Ibotta will credit your account within 24 hours (it usually only takes 24 seconds).
  • Once you have earned $20.00 cash back you can choose to transfer it to a Paypal account or donate it to a charity.

Ibotta is offering a FREE $10 bonus when you sign up right now!

Shopkick is a FREE Android and iPhone app. It gives you access to exclusive deals to stores like Best Buy, Target, Macy’s & Toys ‘R Us. You will get a free $25 gift certificate when you sign up!

Steps to get the gift card:

1. Sign up online first via the Cuckoo landing page
2.You will get a text message to download the app – click this to download it
3. The gift card gets dropped into your account the first time you do a ‘walk-in’ to a partner store. That is, you walk into one of the partner stores with the app open on your phone.  Best Buy, Old Navy or Crate and Barrel, or more!  When you visit, say Best Buy, you’ll open the app inside at the entrance and wait a few seconds – the points will get credited and so will their gift card! The gift card will appear under the “me” tab and should be pretty instant.

Here’s some coupons we’ve seen Target on Shopkick:

  • $1.50 off Archer Farms Snack Trail Mix or Nuts
  • $5 off Merona apparel $20+
  • $5 off Liz Lange for Target apparel 20+
  • $2 off Champion kids tops or bottoms
  • $1 off Archer Farms Chips 8 oz +

Checkout 51:

Checkout51 is mobile or you can use it on your PC.   The best part about this is you can use it at ANY grocery store! This gives it a big advantage over Ibotta.

How to use Checkout 51:

  1. Browse store offers, buy at any store
  2. Upload your receipt
  3. Get cash back
  4. Cash out when you reach $20! They will mail you a check

Target Cartwheel Mobile Coupons

Download the Target Cartwheel Coupons App and get coupons sent directly to your mobile phone! No need to print, just scan your smart phone at Target for the savings!

I made a spreadsheet in xcel, emailed it to myself, and use docs to go to access the spreadsheet on my ipad when I’m shopping. I use this mainly at the grocery store and walmart to see how much I’m spending and to stay under budget.

Anything useful to help with the kindle…I would like to use that instead of my writings on paper… any helpful tips or ideas?

  • Laura

You have your Coupon Database for Android, will you be having one for iphone/ipad users?

    • yes I just need to get the link up, I lost it

  • Denise

I really want to download this app, but it shows that it can access everything on my phone, contacts, phone numbers, texts, everything, it can keep my phone from sleeping, oh too many things it can wreck havoc on my phone. Am I being over cautious? Anyone have problems with this app?

    • Kitty Hubris

      what app

  • NK

does anyone know of a spreadsheet type thing like what is posted above but for android??? I have been looking for something like that I can have on my phone but only find for on the computer or Iphone:(

Recently WDAY TV in Fargo, ND chose the Valpak Mobile App as the WDAY App of the Week, touting AR as one of the coupon app’s “coolest features.” The app has local merchant coupons for lots of locations.

  • jessyvette53

There’s also an app called Cartwheel for Target or something like that. I’ve heard of it but haven’t really checked it out.

    • Jen

I love cartwheel. You can scan the items as you put them in your cart to see if there are discounts. You used to have to scroll through all of their offers. There is a barcode at the end for the cashier to scan to apply all of your discounts.

  • Kimberly

I love Ibotta! I have made over $160 since I have had the app. And Cartwheel for Target is a good one to especially since you can use a Target coupon, manufacturer coupon, and the Cartwheel all for the same item!

  • NoMore

Ibotta stinks. The same useless offers are up for months & very few are good offers. I don’t have an FB account & never will. W/o FB & Twitter you earn a measly 25 cents. Way overrated.
I’m doing better with checkout51 already & it’s been just a few wks. I have been on Ibotta for months & still have less than $5.

    • alissa

Wow, ive earned over 169$ there in about 6 weeks

    • Sheri

I have the opposite problem. I love IBotta and have little use for Checkout 51. I mostly get deals on air fresheners and magazines at Checkout 51, but I’ve found IBotta has more useful stuff.

      • Katherine h

I take advantage of all of them. I just started with Checkout 51, and I almost have enough to cash out of Ibotta. I have SavingsStar, and have earned about 20 bucks with that one in a short time. I figure, if it is something I am buying anyways, eventually I will get enough to cash out. It’s like a slower version of the change jar challenge.

    • Jen

I have the opposite problem too. I finally deleted checkout51 because nothing I used was on it. Ibotta – I have $67 in a couple of months. I guess it depends on what you buy as to which one is better for you.

      • Amanda Custer

Having the same problem only opposite. Haha

  • adriana

try Zoupons app if you’re living in southern California. it offers local business’s coupons and deals.

  • Theresa Douglas

I use Snap by Groupon to get extra savings. Some items you buy with coupons can also give you instant rebates making your purchase very cheep and sometimes free!

There are also apps (like reciept hog) that will give you points for snapping a pic of your receipt that you can spend on gift cards or cash through Paypal!

    • Heidi

I downloaded and signed up for receipt hog but on a waiting list. Keeping fingers crossed. Any others you suggest? Thanks

  • Joann C

Check out Yowza!! great mobile shopping app lots of offers from retailers and restaurants.

  • Alishia Mae Fuller

Favado is also an awesome app!

  • Joanne Martin-roberts

Thank you for explaining how these work

  • Nina Rowell

Mobisave is a good one but there was a waiting list for it when I first joined. And I’m so surprised that all the couponing blogs I follow don’t promote The Find & Save app, I adore that one!

  • Joanne Martin-roberts

Question? For ibotta & checkout 51, do you click on the coupon you want to use Before you buy the item?

    • Esmeralda

For ibitta yes , for checkout 51 no

    • alexis

I think depends on store for ibotta I know I have bought from walmart then came home and clicked and scanned that day I bought but for like rite Aid and shop n save I have my card linked with it so so I have to click before I buy

    • Myste

No. I go shopping then come home and select my offers and redeem.

  • Heidi

If you have SYW then try WinIt. It gives points for SYW. I have luck earning about $0.50 a day, sometimes more. Never have a problem getting points either!
